Daniel Lindsay, who died on March 30, was honored at the Dallas County Board of Supervisors meeting on April 2.
Board Chairman Mark Hanson presented Dallas County EMS Director Mike Thomason with a certificate of appreciation for Lindsay’s 19 years of service with the Dallas County EMS.
Thomason said Lindsay started with Dallas County EMS in 1999, when they went to a 24-hour system.
“Before that, we did a lot of call from home. We ended up going full coverage of the county in 1999,” Thomason said. “He was one of the first of the people who were hired.”
He added that Lindsay worked out of both Adel and Perry. Lindsay mainly worked with Lee Coons, of Perry, for around 18 of his 19 years with Dallas County EMS.
Visitation is set for 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4 at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines.
Thomason said Dallas County EMS will be supplying all of the county’s ambulance’s for the service. Dallas County will be covered by West Des Moines, Clive, Waukee and Panora. Those ambulance services volunteered to move a squad into Dallas County communities, Thomason said, in order for the county staff and ambulances to be at Lindsay’s funeral.
“I hate to present it, but in a way it’s a certificate for Dan Lindsay’s 19 years and four months of service to the department,” Hanson said to Thomason.
