Party In The Park

Join the Adel Rotary Club each Thursday this summer from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at parks across town. Every “Party In The Park” offers a fun family activity, free frozen treats and music! Gather your family, explore a park and make new friends! The first event is at Evans Park on June 6. We’ll have face-painting and Pop-Ice for the kids. Bring your lawn chair or blanket if you want to listen to our playlist while you visit. Plan to enjoy the playground, disc golf course, basketball court, sand volleyball court, or trails. Governors Day

Thursday, June 6 - Saturday, June 8 in Governors District, Grimes.

Held entirely within the Governors District, in the heart of Grimes, Iowa, Governors Days incorporates all the ingredients for an exciting family friendly event. Complete with concerts, parades, carnivals and much, much more; Governors Days has something for everyone. This grand community event is headed up by a vibrant group of dedicated volunteers and organized with the help of Grimes Chamber & Economic Development. Dallas Center Farmers Market

4-7 p.m. Friday, June 7 at triangle across from library, Dallas Center.

The Dallas Center Farmers Market will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday evenings from June 7 through Sept. 27 up town at the triangle across from the library. The market will include in season vegetables, baked goods, crafts, soap, unique things and more. New vendors are welcome. For more information, call 515-669-1827.

Waukee Yoga in the Park

8-9 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at Windfield Park, 114 Windfield Parkway, Waukee.

Join local, certified yoga instructors for Yoga in the Park this summer! Bring a yoga mat or towel to Windfield Park on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from June through August. Yoga sessions will take place from 8-9 a.m. This program is recommended for anyone 8 years and older. The cost is $2 per person. Please pay the instructor when you arrive. Granger Yoga in the Park

8 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at Centennial Park, Granger.

Join us at Centennial Park for Yoga in the Park. The event is designed for improving community health, energizing and relaxation. You are encouraged to bring a mat or a towel as well as some water and clothes you can move in. No registration for the class is required, just show up ready to relax, release and enjoy. In the event of rain, yoga will be cancelled. Updates will be posted on the Granger Parks and Rec website and Facebook page.

Dallas County Big Year Bird Challenge

8-11 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at Kuehn Conservation Area.

This is the second event of our Dallas County Big Year Birding Challenge. Our goal is to reach 100 species by the end of this calendar year. Some binoculars and field guides will be available. Registration required for this free program. Call 515-465-3577.

Team RunFree 5K

5-8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at Lincoln Savings Bank, 312 Nile Kinnick Dr., Adel.

We invite all runners (and walkers) to register, meet our team AND support Team RunFree during the ‘Miles of Smiles’ 5K race on June 8. Lincoln Savings Bank in Adel is sponsoring this event - so EVERY dollar spent will go directly to Team RunFree. The race starts at LSB at 5 p.m. Dinner will begin serving at 5:30, and the concert will kick into gear shortly after 6. For those not doing the 5K - come by and get a great BBQ dinner (free-will offering) and stay for the music.

Family Fishing Fun

4:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at Glissman Conservation Area.

The gates will be open for all visitors and our fishing gear will be ready to loan as Dallas County Conservation Board participates in the annual Iowa Free Fishing Weekend. The Glissman pond has a good population of bluegill and smallmouth bass, and is a great place for beginning and experienced anglers. Registration is appreciated, but not required. This program is free and weather dependent.
