On Saturday July 20, the DeSoto Police Department held its first annual Cops and Bobbers event at a local pond south of DeSoto. The kids, officers and volunteers all had a great day considering the heat. All the kids caught fish and gifts and awards were given out to each of them. Kayleigh Crozier won first fish and biggest fish, Aiden Carter won smallest fish and Lincoln Miller won most fish.
The DeSoto Police would like to thank the following: DeSoto Fire Chief Tim Murray for the use of his ponds, Raccoon Valley Bass Anglers for their gift of fishing poles for the kids to keep, Hal and Harry’s Hawaiian Ice for their gift so the kids could get a cool Hawaiian Ice to cool off, Dallas County Conservation for the use of the loaner fishing poles, Dallas County Conservation Officer Craig Lonneman for the extra gifts for the kids, Johnston Bait and Tackle for the discount on the bait, Ivan Olson and family and friend (Taylor), the officer’s spouses, Madyson King, Lily Sparling for action photographer and of course the parents who let us take their kids fishing.
We all look forward to doing this event next year!
