Movie in the Park

The next Movie in the Park is set for Aug. 2. Waukee Parks and Recreation and City of Waukee will be showing “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” in Centennial Park. The whole family can go on an adventure together by helping Larry span the globe, uniting favorite and new characters while embarking on an epic quest to save the magic before it is gone forever.

Grimes Lions Community Breakfast

Dallas Center Clean-Up Day

9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at Mound Park, Dallas Center.

The Dallas Center Clean-Up Day will be held on Aug. 3 at Mound Park. Get rid of your household hazardous wastes and your appliances for FREE (there is a charge for TVs based on size). There will also be a FREE scrap metal dumpster. This is a great opportunity to clean things up around your home and yard!

Summer Breeze Battle of the ‘Burbs

9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at NCMIC and Professional Solutions, 14001 University Ave., Clive.

It promises to be a fun day to walk or run the 5K through the beautiful Clive Country Club neighborhood. More serious runners may choose the 10K that offers beautiful views of both Clive and Waukee. Bring the kids along for the Kids Fun Run. It features an obstacle course they’re sure to enjoy. When you register, you’ll be asked to choose a city - Clive, Waukee or West Des Moines - or you can choose all of them. We’ll donate 100 percent of all registration fees to those communities. National Night Out

Come Join DCFD and DCSO for National Night Out 2019. We will have the trucks on display as well as free hotdogs! Come meet the members of the fire department and the sheriff’s office and get to know the folks that make our city great!

Public Safety Day

5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Waukee Public Safety Building, 1300 SE L.A. Grant Parkway.

The Waukee Police Department and Waukee Fire Department will join forces again for Public Safety Day. The popular annual event will feature activities such as the chance for kids to use a fire hose, the opportunity to try Fatal Vision Goggles, a rollover machine, firefighters obstacle course, inflatables, K9 demonstrations, tours of the Waukee Public Safety Building and more! Meet members of the departments and feast on grilled food from Fareway Stores!

Dallas County Freedom Rock Fundraiser

4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at Downtown Triangle, Waukee.

To assist the Minburn American Legion Post #99 with raising funds to paint the Dallas County Freedom Rock, the Waukee American Legion Post 737 will be hosting a fundraiser on Wednesday, Aug. 7. The fundraiser will occur during the Waukee Farmers Market and will consist of a pulled pork sandwich meal. All proceeds will go directly into supporting this important and historic event.

Park Play - Fox Creek Park

5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at Fox Creek Park.

Calling all Fox Creek Park neighbors! Park Play is a new summer series of park events organized by the Waukee Parks & Recreation Department in partnership with Central Bank. The goal of this series is to bring neighbors together and introduce specific parks to those who live near them. Games, crafts, activities and free play for all ages will be provided free of charge. The Fox Creek Park theme is “Hawaiian Luau!”

Party in the Park

Every Party in the Park offers a fun family activity, free frozen treats and music. Gather your family, explore a park and make new friends! The Aug. 8 Party in the Park will be at Evans Park. The Adel Rotary Club will present the last party on Aug. 15 at Kinnick-Feller Park.

Sweet Corn Festival

Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 10 around Adel.

The 40th annual Sweet Corn Festival will kick off on Friday, Aug. 9 with shucking of the corn at 5 p.m. in the parking lot at 10th and Prairie. The Sweet Corn Princess Contest follows at 6:30 p.m. on the Main Stage at 10th and Main. Saturday morning kicks off with a 5K run at 8 a.m. Then take in the largest parade in Dallas County, beginning at 9:30 a.m. before enjoying your share of over 7 tons of free sweet corn, beginning at 11 a.m. and going fast. Also enjoy performances by local entertainers, craft and food vendors. Then dance the night away at the Community Street Dance and Beer Garden.
