Summer Block Party

For the second year in a row, come join Greater Iowa Credit Union, Focus Eye Care, Smoothie King, Rock Valley Physical Therapy and Rosati’s Pizza for a fun and family-friendly evening! There will be activities for kids, giveaways, food and great company! This is a free event open to the community, we would love to see you there!

Hummingbird Happening

1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at Kuehn Conservation Area.

Every year as the hummingbirds migrate south for the winter, we see an amazing number of them in the lower prairie tracts at Kuehn. Join us this year as we marvel at their color and aerial dexterity, and try to entice them to come to hand-held feeders! Pre-registration required for this free program by calling 515-465-3577. Dallas County Reads

6:30-7:30 p.m. at Woodward United Methodist Church, 108 W 5th St.

Join all 12 Dallas County libraries as we welcome author Rachelle Chase, who will give a presentation on her most recent book, “Creating the Black Utopia of Buxton, Iowa.” The event is being held at the Woodward United Methodist Church, 108 W 5th St.. The presentation is free and open to the public. A reception of light refreshments will follow as well as a book signing with the author. Books will be available for purchase from the author, the evening of the event. This program is presented by the Dallas County Library Association.

Waukee Economic Development Bus Tour

3:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 at Fridley Theatres, 200 NE Westgate Drive, Waukee.

The Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee will host the 7th annual Waukee Economic Development Bus Tour at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12. The tour will start and end at The Palms Theatres and IMAX in Waukee with a reception to follow at 5 p.m. This event is open to the public and will highlight community information, business, residential and school development.
