ADEL, IOWA — Community Housing Initiatives (CHI) is inviting local seniors and the public to tour Van Fossen Square, an independent living community serving seniors age 55+ in Adel, during an open house from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Van Fossen Square is a recently updated community offering affordable one bedroom rents that include utility bills and free laundry. The property has a fresh new look featuring quality resident activity spaces like a great room, media room, community room and a terrace with scenic country views.

“Fall is a great time to come and check out our community because residents who move in soon can be settled in before colder weather comes later on,” said Matt Hauge, marketing director for Van Fossen Square. “Then once you’re here, your heat bill is included in rent, which is a nice perk.”

The one-bedroom apartments in Van Fossen Square offer spacious living areas, walk-in closets, step-in showers, and include major appliances. Pets are welcome (fees and restrictions apply) and on-site laundry facilities and a beauty salon are available. CHI’s resident services program offers regular activities a Van Fossen Square that help residents get to know one another.

Van Fossen Square (504 Van Fossen Lane) was previously Adel Assisted Living, and the community’s new identity reflects its role as an independent living community rather than a health care facility. Income restrictions apply at Van Fossen Square, and CHI accepts most forms of rental assistance. A percentage of the apartments are also available to people under age 55 who have a disability.

To apply at Van Fossen Square, call 515-223-0029 or pick up an application right inside the property’s front door. Van Fossen Square is professionally managed by Community Housing Initiatives (CHI) is a Spencer, Iowa-based nonprofit organization providing quality housing solutions all across Iowa.
