Christine Crone has announced that she will be running for Waukee City Council in the Nov. 5 election.
Crone and her family have lived in Waukee for 19 years. She has enjoyed serving the community in many different ways. She has been a Girl Scout leader, RAGBRAI organizer, YMCA volunteer and has been on the Park Board for the past five years.
“I didn’t set out to run for City Council, I set out to make a difference in my community. I’m currently in my second year as Park Board President and through that work I’ve discovered an interest in trying to better my community in more ways,” Crone said. “I believe the next best step in continuing to serve Waukee is to be on the City Council.”
She has been working with city, state and federal officials to discuss fair and affordable hosing in Waukee. In talking with and listening to citizens all over the community, Crone understands there are some folks who need a voice on the council.
“If elected, I plan to continue working on fair housing, to support public safety and improve the communication between the city administration and the citizens of Waukee,” she said. “I would consider it a privilege to serve the people of Waukee and contribute to its growth and prosperity.”
