The Waukee Community School District will celebrate homecoming week Sept. 23-28. A variety of activities are being planned for the week.


Dress-up day themes include Jersey Day on Monday, Sept. 23, USA Day on Tuesday, Sept. 24, Country or Country Club Day on Wednesday, Sept. 25, Beach Day on Thursday, Sept. 26 and Waukee Spirit Day on Friday, Sept. 27.

Streets along the parade route will be closed from 5:30-7 p.m. The route will go from Vince Meyer Learning Center up 6th Street, then Ashworth Drive to 4th Street. Northview from 4th Street to Warrior Lane will be closed, as well as Warrior Lane to Waukee Middle School.


The coronation ceremony will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26. The homecoming king and queen will be crowned at WHS Stadium following the parade.


Waukee will take on Mason City on Friday, Sept. 27. The varsity football game will start at 7 p.m. at the WHS Stadium.


The homecoming dance will be held from 8-10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Horizon Event Center in Clive. Admission is $10 per student and tickets must be purchased ahead of time on RevTrak.
