Dan Gehlbach, a native of Urbandale, longtime Waukee School District resident and Board Member of the Waukee Schools Foundation, announced his candidacy for the Waukee Community School District Board of Directors.

“It is important that a new wave of school board members not only possess the passion and vision for Waukee Schools that those running in the past have shown, but we also elect members to the school board with the right skill-set and leadership experience,” he said. “I am passionate about seeing kids succeed and want the focus to be back on serving the kids of Waukee.”

Gehlbach’s priorities include: (1) Restoring the trust in the Board and fostering a culture of openness and transparency; (2) holding administration accountable while also working closely with the new Superintendent to put the focus back on education; (3) and managing growth responsibly while fighting for increased funding for teachers and students.

Gehlbach and his wife, Staci, live in Urbandale with their two daughters. Abby is a 6th grader at Waukee Middle School and Katy is a 3rd grader at Walnut Hills Elementary. He is a 2000 graduate of the University of Kansas and a 2008 graduate of Arizona State’s W.P Carey School of Business with a Masters in Business Administration. In addition to his role with the Waukee Schools Foundation Board, Gehlbach serves as a nationally elected member of Mathnasium Learning Center’s Franchise Advisory Committee. He has served on the Waukee School Board’s past 2 Boundary Committees and has served on the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors where he chaired both the Ambassador and Scholarship Committees. Gehlbach is a graduate of the West Des Moines Leadership Academy. He is the owner and Center Director of Mathnasium Learning Center of West Des Moines. Prior to opening Mathnasium, Gehlbach was a Certified Internal Auditor specializing in internal controls, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

“It would be an honor to represent and serve the Waukee School District. I look forward to spending the next weeks and months talking with residents and tax payers across the District,” said Gehlbach.
