One hundred and seventeen Adel-De Soto-Minburn 5th graders graduated from the keepin’it REAL D.A.R.E program last Monday.
Students took part in the nine classroom lessons where they learned about the importance of making safe and responsible decisions, facts about tobacco and alcohol, risks and consequences, peer pressure, how to deal with stressful situations, basics of communication, nonverbal communication, bullying, and why it’s important to help others.
They also learned about the D.A.R.E. Decision Making Model which serves as a guide to help student’s think through situations and problems to help come up with the best and safest choices.
Two student essays were chosen from each classroom and were awarded medals. Those selected included Juliana Johnson, Mackenzie Ireland, Elle Hook, Cody Anderson, Bryce Holm, Charlie Bathey, Dezirae Terry, Delany Bertman, Abigail Hlas, Morgan Meyer, Chase Anderson, and Briley Porter. The program is conducted in cooperation between Monte Keller with the Adel Police Department and the A-D-M School District.
