Jeanette Marie Reiste, age 86, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus, Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018 at Pearl Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Iowa. Her Celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren, 24529 J. Avenue, Adel, Iowa. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22 at the church.

Jeanette was born Sept. 19, 1931 in rural Minburn, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank and Gladys (Lantz) Harrison. She graduated from Washington Township School in 1949. On June 10, 1951 she was united in marriage to Richard Reiste and they were married for over 66 years. After spending some time in Brethren Volunteer Service in New Windsor, Md., they lived most of their married life in Minburn, Iowa. To that union three children were born, Shirley, Elaine and David.

Jeanette was a very patient, kind, loving and caring wife and mother. Her cheerful, positive servant’s heart touched the lives of everyone she met. Jeanette enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, singing, playing piano and organ, traveling and reading. Her cooking and baking skills were evident at company dinners, holiday meals with the family as well as the cookies she baked for the bank.

Jeanette was active in her church for many years, teaching bible school, leading Christmas programs and playing piano and organ. She worked as a charge nurse at Spurgeon Manor for many years and later retired from nursing after working at the Dallas County Care facility.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Richard Reiste, Minburn; daughter, Elaine (Jesse) Wilkerson of Minburn and son David (Christine) Reiste of Lititz, Penn.; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Jensen, Katie French, Eric Shelley, Lisa (Travis) Risvold, Timothy D. (Carolyn) Reiste and Daniel R. Reiste; four great grandchildren, Christopher and Jeremy Wilson and Isaac Katnik and Isaiah Risvold. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Edward Harrison and H. Jean Harrison and daughter, Shirley Ann Reiste.
