Mary Maach, 93, of Boone and the Hearthstone Memory Care Unit of the Eastern Star Masonic Home, died March 5, 2018 at Hearthstone.

A visitation, with the family present, will be held at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018. The casket will be closed. A private family graveside service and burial will be at the Beaver Cemetery in Beaver.

Mary Frances (Doran) Maach, was born on the family farm near Beaver on April 13, 1924, the daughter of Oliver and Lois (Brewster) Doran. She graduated from Beaver High School in 1942. Mary then attended Iowa State College where she obtained her teaching degree. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Harold Maach on June 18, 1949, on the Doran Family Home. They then moved to their family farm where they lived and farmed until her husband’s death in 2000. Mary was a teacher and a homemaker for her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ogden, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Beaver Self-improvement Club. Mary enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family. In her younger years, she loved to play bridge with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Shirley. Mary is survived by her two sons, Larry Maach and wife, Laura of Beaver and Roger Maach and wife, Melinda of Southern Pines, N.C.; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Dinning of Reno, Nev. and Dorothy Rueter and husband, Cecil of Grand Junction.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Mary.

Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at Hearthstone Memory Care Unit and the Kindred Hospice for their care and attention towards Mary.
