Charles David Turner, 89, son of Henry Grover & Mary (Beall) Turner, was born September 18, 1929 in Dallas County, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his daughter’s home near Maxwell, Iowa.


Charles graduated from Redfield High School in 1947. He attended a year at Simpson College before returning home to farm. On January 30, 1954, he married Beatrice Turner in Churdan, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1954 - 1956, serving in Korea for 18 months. Following his discharge, he returned to Redfield and farming. He worked as a farmer throughout his life and also worked at the Adel sale barn every Wednesday for 30 years. He retired from farming in 1995.


Charles enjoyed collecting everything, antiques, his 1928 chevy, which he enjoyed cruising around the countryside. He was a self taught fiddler, winning 3 state championships. He also played in a band for many years and was a member of the “Old Fiddle’s Association”.


He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (John) Ricker of Maxwell; great-granddaughters, Shasta & Chasity Moody; and niece, Lisa Hinde of Hillsdale, Wisconsin.


He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beatrice, sister Elizabeth Nelson, and nephew David Nelson.


Cremation has taken place and a memorial visitation will be Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 2-5 p.m. at the Twigg Funeral Home, Panora. Burial will be held at a later date in the West Linn Cemetery, rural Linden, Iowa.
