Richard F. Kohls passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on October 16th, in Gallatin TN. Richard is survived by his son, Mark Kohls (Shaunda) of Hendersonville TN, Cathy Culler (Joe) of Austin TX, Tom Kohls (Kelly) of Clarksville OH, and Mike Kohls (Donna) of Lubbock TX, and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Vera (Weber) Kohls.

His children and grandchildren remember his as a very loving father with a zest for life.

Dick was born on September 21, 1932, in Des Moines IA to Richard F. Kohls and Gladys (Peitzman) Kohls. He lived in Grimes IA until joining the US Air Force. He completed meteorology school, and was then stationed in Japan. After returning to the US, he met the love of his life, Vera Weber. They were married April 21, 1956.

During their 21-year Air Force career, the traveled all over the US and the world. One of their favorite stations was the Azores Islands, where they spent over eight years. After retiring from the Air Force, Did was able to continue in meteorology as a civil servant at Offutt AFB in Omaha, NE. They spent 23 years in Omaha, before retiring to Bella Vista AR, where they lived for 24 years. They stayed active, volunteering and as members of St Bernard Catholic Church.

Dick’s ashes will be interred at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista on Saturday, November 2nd.
