Virginia Rose Burk passed away at 1:00 am on Thursday February 24, 2022. She passed in the home of her longtime guardians in the bed she loved to cross stitch in. Virginia was born March 11, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to Chester and Pearl(Bohner) Burk.She attended school earning her diploma and worked as a childcare provider most of her working life. In her retirement years she attended recreational programs and enjoyed volunteering to help others.

Virginia enjoyed dancing, crosswords and word searches, as well as her prized cross stitch pillowcases and sheets which she shared with loved ones and those in need. Virginia had many pets through her life by her side as worked on her hobbies with Rudy, her dog the final 10 years.

Virginia is survived by her Guardians and their family who were her adoptive loved ones. Delbert and Melissa Buchman were her Guardian and Conservator for her final 15 years, taking over for Beth Flanders, who accepted the role upon the death of her husband Leonard. Over that time their children Megan and Colin adopted her as a loved one. That continued as they became adults and Megan Buchman-Couillez became her host home provider and she lived in her home as part of her family. The extended family at her time of death included Megan’s husband Philippe and daughter Alienor, Colin and Ashleigh Buchman with their children Olivia, Catherine, Marlowe and Calvin. Included in her life were the managers and support staff of various agencies over her life, Mosaic of Central Iowa being the final one.

Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home of Adel managed her end of life care, and helped manage her memory. She has a monument in Laurel Hill cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa. An end of life celebration will be planned at a later date.
