On May 30, 2013, William H. Deering, Jr. 67, passed this life after a long and valiant battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born January 21, 1946 in Des Moines, IA to Howard & Francis Deering. He was a long-time resident of the Adel-De Soto area.

Bill was very active & had a love for scuba diving, bicycling, & horseback riding. He was proud to have been the dive master for Central Campus marine biology class to Florida for 15 years. One of Bill’s favorite hobbies was photography. His best & biggest accomplishment in his life (his words) were his pride & joy – his two daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Lana; two daughters, Kylee & Koree; a brother, Louis (Annette); mother and father-in-law, Eva and Rex Wyckoff; sister-in-law, Brenda Morehouse; brother-in-law, Gary (Nancy) Wyckoff; many nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mildred & Maxine.

A celebration of Bill’s life was at 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Otterman Cemetery near Adel. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m., with a prayer service held at 5 p.m.
