To the Editor:
What is the real reason for the Ortonville site? In talking to members of the citizens committee they did not agree to this location, they made other recommendations such as selling the Ortonville land and use the proceeds for purchasing land in the core area of Adel keeping all county services and the court system within a walkable area where a citizen could take care of all there business in one stop.
Supervisor Hanson keeps bring up flooding in the downtown area which hasn’t happened since the late 1940’s. After the "93" floods the City of Adel made several changes on how they approach flood water. Flood water can now be contained in the park area west of Hwy 169 and to the east they can control flood water north of Grove Street. Also during 93 the EMS, fire and sheriff department were able to response to all calls for service. Now we have deputies living in all parts of the county, as well as EMS service from Waukee and the western suburbs.
Why the rush to build a jail and Administration building before the city has completed their comprehensive plan for the annexed Ortonville area?
