The Waukee Warriors softball team won a double header against the Southeast Polk Rams on June 26. The Warriors won the first game 8-1 and the second 5-2.

The only inning the Warriors did not score was the third. The Warriors scored one run per inning with the exception of the second inning where they scored third runs.

Both Sarah Schaefer and Emma Richards scored one run from a home run. Schaefer also had two hits and four RBIs at the end of the game and Richards had one hit and one RBI.

Delaney Taylor also led in the first game. Of the three times she was up to bat, she was walked to base once and had two hits. Taylor scored three of the Warriors eight runs.

Schaefer was also the pitcher for the first game. Pitching all seven innings, she allowed just four hits, one run and struck out six batters.

The Rams took the lead in the second game with one run in the second inning. The Warriors quickly took the lead in the fifth inning when they scored three runs, then proceeded to score two more in the seventh.

Morgan Nealey led the second game for the Warriors. Nealey scored hit a home run, scoring her one run of the game. She also had two hits and four of the team’s five RBIs.

Logan Akason had the fifth team RBI for the Warriors. She also had two hits, one double and scored one run against the Rams.

The Warriors won both of the games against the Rams and now hold a season record of 28-2. The Warriors have a game on Wednesday, June 28 against Ankeny at 6:00 p.m.
