The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs played the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets on Friday, Oct. 6. The Mustangs took home their seventh win of the season when they beat the Cadets 21-0.
Mustang quarterback, Damon Clapper, finished the game with ten passing attempts and five completions for 51 yards. Clapper had one passing touchdown for four yards and finished the game with a quarterback rating of 105.8.
Clapper also scored the Mustangs’ only rushing touchdown. He had 11 rushing attempts for 56 yards against the Cadets. His touchdown was for just one yard, though.
Senior Tanner Epple led the Mustangs rushing yards. Epple had eight rushing attempts for a total of 80 yards. Luke Fistler was the third leader of rushing yards for the Mustangs. He had seven attempts and 52 yards.
Thomas Erickson was the one receiver to score a touchdown. Erickson had just the one reception, but scored the four-yard touchdown.
Again, Epple led the Mustangs in receiving yards. Epple had just one reception, but for 28 yards. Garrett Skalnik was the second leader with 14 receiving yards from his one reception.
Senior Tyler Cooney had the third reception for the Mustangs. Cooney scored his touchdown off a 53-yard punt return.
Kicker Austin James made all three of the Mustangs’ PATs.
Trent Carpenter led the Mustangs in tackles. He ended the game against the Cadets with five solo tackles, one tackle assist and one solo tackle for loss for a total of 5.5 tackles.
Zach Needham was the Mustangs second leader in tackles. Needham finished with three solo tackles, one tackle assist, one solo tackle for loss for a total of 3.5 tackles. He also had one of the Mustangs’ three solo sacks.
The Mustangs are 7-0 going into their game against Boone on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
