The Dallas Center-Grimes Fillies beat the Ballard Bombers in the regional semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 24. The match went into five sets, but the Fillies came out with a 3-2 win.
The Fillies started the match out slow, with the Bombers taking sets one and two with a final score of 25-19 in both sets. The Fillies came back strong though in the third set, also winning 25-19. The Fillies didn’t stop and took set four with a score of 25-13. Going into the fifth set, the Bombers and Fillies were tied 2-2, but the Fillies came out with the three-point win of 15-12.
Katelyn Knudsen and Abby Greiman led the Fillies in kills. Knudsen ended the match with 18 kills. She had 63 attack attempts and just ten errors for a 0.127 kill efficiency.
Greiman followed Knudsen with 16 kills. Greiman had an efficiency of 0.364 after having 33 attack attempts and four errors.
Overall, the Fillies had a kill efficiency of 0.102 from their 45 kills and 166 attack attempts.
Ally Ferguson had 33 assists for the Fillies and Dakota Miles ended the match with 33 digs.
As a team, the Fillies had a 97 percent serve efficiency and scored nine aces on the Bombers.
Hannah Ashley scored four of the Fillies’ aces. She had a 100 percent serve efficiency as well after all 21 of her serves went over the net.
Jordan Cunningham and Miles followed up Ashley with two aces each. Cunningham had 12 successful serves out of her 13 for an efficiency of 0.923. Miles had a 0.950 efficiency when 19 of her 20 serves were successful.
Tiffany Denger had the last ace. She made seven of her eight serves for a 0.875 serve efficiency.
Behind Ashley, Kamryn O’Brien was the second leader of serves for the Fillies. She also had a perfect serve efficiency when all 19 of her serves made it over. Ferguson made 18 out of 18 of her serves over for a 100 percent serve efficiency also.
The Fillies will play in the regional final on Monday, Oct. 3o at Lewis Central at 7 p.m.
