The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers recorded their seventh win of the season during the “Coaches versus Cancer” game on Friday, Jan. 26 hosted by the Perry Jayettes. The Tigers won 53-42.
The Tigers started the game with a three-point lead when they ended the first quarter 11-8. The Jayettes were then able to outscore the Tigers 15-14 in the second quarter, but it wasn’t enough to get the lead before the end of the half. At the end of the first half the Tigers led 25-23.
The Tigers outscored the Jayettes the rest of the game. The Jayettes were only able to score 19 points to the Tigers 28 in the second half, finishing the game with an 11-point spread.
Sophomores Abbie Hlas and Delaney Bertman ended the game as the Tigers’ leading scorers. Hlas scored 18 points from her four field goals, two three pointers and four free throws. Bertman made four field goals and five free throws for a total of 13 points.
Hlas and Bertman also led the team in rebounds. Bertman led with nine rebounds, four that were offensive and five that were defensive. Hlas followed with eight, five of which were offensive and three that were defensive rebounds.
Aniston Smith led the Tigers in assists with five of the team’s 12. Hlas had three of the team’s steals. The Tigers’ only two blocks against the Jayettes came from junior Rachel Hardy.
The Tigers now hold a 7-10 record this season, they played Carroll at home on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.
