It was a Davis vs. Goliath match up Thursday night between the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs and Class 4A’s fifth ranked Indianola High School.

The Mustangs actually held a lead throughout most of the contest, but three consecutive scoring innings for the Indians led to a 7-6 DC-G defeat.

The Mustangs showcased their offense by jumping out to a 3-0 lead after four innings of play. Even when Indianola picked up two runs in the fifth, Dallas Center-Grimes answered right back with a three run fifth of their own. What ended up being the downfall for the Mustangs was a four run sixth and a one run seventh inning that propelled Indianola to a win.

The Mustangs were pretty efficient scoring their six runs off of just eight hits while making Indianola starter throw 98 pitches in the process.

The Mustangs drop their record to 5-11 on the season while Indianola improves their record to a nearly unblemished 19-1. The season continues for Dallas Center-Grimes with a double header match up against Pella Christian on Monday, June 25.
