In a postponed outing, the Van Meter cross country teams were in action Thursday evening as they traveled to the DC-G Invite. It was an eleven team field on both sides and the Bulldog girls came away with a ninth place finish while the boys finished in 11th.

The Bulldog girls averaged a time of 26:21.3 as a team and finished with a total of 281 points. Junior Clair Lauterbach led the way and was the only Bulldog girl to place top 50 or better. She clocked in with a time of 24:20.1 which placed her exactly 50th out of 161 total runners. Josie Cross followed in 70th with a time of 25:21.9 while London Willie took 92nd with a time of 26:26.0. She was followed by Shae Bernhardt in 94th, and Lilly Thompson in 128th.

On the boys side, the Bulldogs claimed 11th with 266 points overall. Leading the way was Carson Willie placing 40th with a time of 19:42.8. Sophomore Zach Pleggenkuhle came in second on the team by placing 61st overall thanks to a time of 20:18.6 which was closely followed by Dustin Barth in 70th with a time of 20:27.3. Creighton Netten took home 78th place by clocking in a time of 10:46.7. Chris Coffie took 99th overall while Tico Angel scored 112th, Taylor Birks in 115th, and Coffie brother Tyler came in 132nd with a time of 22:05.2. Harry Smith took home 141st place with a time of 22:18.4 followed by Wil Jones in 169th.

The Bulldogs will be off until Tuesday, September 4th, when they travel to Winterset.
