It’s been quite the exciting season so far for the Waukee high school football team. They’ve battled then number one Dowling Catholic, and have defeated top teams in Southeast Polk and sixth ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie.

Now, on the eve of the final non-district game of the season, the Warriors find themselves ranked eighth in the inaugural Football Ratings Percentage Index. Only district champions will be guaranteed a spot at the playoff table, meanwhile the remaining playoff spots will be filled according to the ratings percentage index. There are three criteria that go into the index including the team’s win-loss record, their opponent’s win-loss record, and their opponents-opponent’s win-loss record. Right now the Warriors sit with a mark of .667 and a total percentage of 0.5901. Their opponents, which include two top ten ranked teams, include a record of 15-12 while their opponent’s-opponent’s record sits at 126-113.

The Warriors will get a chance to climb the ladder in a big way tomorrow night when they take on overall top ranked West Des Moines Valley who currently sits at seventh in the Football Ratings Percentage Index. Game time begins with kick off tomorrow at 7 p.m.
