The race was on for both ADM cross country teams Thursday afternoon in the rescheduled Raccoon River Conference meet held on the grounds of ADM High School.

The Tiger boys ended up placing fourth as a team with 92 total points and a total time of 1:29:16.7 while the Tiger girls placed fifth in the conference with a team point total of 135 points.

When all was said and done, three All-Conference runners came away for ADM, including the top two runners on the boys side. As it has been all season long, the sophomore tandem of Nate Mueller and Ethan Juergens not only led the way for ADM, but led the way for the entire 69 runner field. Just as he did a year prior, Mueller claimed the conference individual crown. He bested his conference winning mark of 16:21 from last year by clocking in with a time of 16:05.1 Thursday.

Ethan Juergens followed closely behind Mueller as he clocked in with a second place finishing time of 16:39.1. That mark set a new personal record for the sophomore who was overjoyed to have put up such a performance.

“To run like this at conference is big,” said Juergens. “It gives me a lot of confidence heading into state qualifying.”

The rest of the Tiger boys varsity roster consisted of junior Braeden Hegarty in 22nd, Caleb Crystal in 33rd, Owen Meier in 34th, Nathan Royer in 35th, and Sean McGee in 37th.

ADM sophomore Hannah Welch was the Tiger girls’ All-Conference representative after she placed 15th overall with a time of 21:54.

In the end, it was Carlisle to claim the conference crown on the boys side while Ballard repeated defended their conference supremacy with 23 points and a second consecutive conference crown.

Both Tiger squads will now regroup for what’s next which will be the state qualifying meet held Thursday, October 18 in Glenwood.
