In their pursuit to a state tournament berth, the Waukee High School volleyball team earned a few academic honors this week as the IGHSAU released their All-State Academic honors for 2018.

To earn this honor, student-athletes must acquire a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher. Showing just as strong of classroom skills as physical skills, four Warrior volleyball stars made it onto the prestigious 2018 list. Those individuals include seniors Abby Elliot, Megan and Kaitlyn Severson, and Avery Showalter.

These four seniors have been a shining example of not just how talented, but how smart the 2018 Waukee volleyball team is.

“When you think of these seniors, professionalism and dedication come straight to mind,” began Warrior head coach Danielle Lynch. “Every time they step on the volleyball court their focused only on what we as coaches ask them to do. They are a big part of building what is a successful and winning atmosphere here at Waukee.”

Elliot, Showalter, and the Severson sisters will be joining their fellow Warrior volleyball teammates as they take on the Class 5A regional three championship game on Monday, October 29. They will be heading to Urbandale High School to take on the Lady J-Hawks for the right to head to state, beginning at 7 p.m.
