It was a victorious night for the Waukee boys’ swimming team Thursday night as they downed Mason City by a 121.5-48.5 margin.
It was an all out dominating performance by the Warriors that included nine first place finishes. In the first varsity event, the Warrior 200 yard medley relay team of Eli Waltman, Caleb Nichols, Mitchell Pollitt, and Augi Muenzenmay placed first with a time of 1:43.53. Muenzenmay, joined up with the likes of Campbell Patterson, Davis Kuhlers, and Drew Reiter to place first in the 400 yard free with a time of 3:25.35.
Drew Reiter had a solid night with two first place finishes, one in the 200 yard free with a time of 1:49.37 and the other in the 100 yard free with a time of 53.95 seconds. Among the multiple first place finishes that Augie Muenzenmay obtained, one of them was in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.96. That gave Muenzenmay a season best mark for the season so far. Mitchell Pollitt was also involved in a couple of first place performances and along with his involvement in the 200 yard medley relay and the 200 yard free relay event, took first in the 50 yard freestyle event. Pollitt paced the entire field with a time of 22.54 seconds, less than a second off of his current season best time.
After making waves in the 500 yard freestyle last season, Carter Moseley continues to do well in the event, catching a time of 5:07.41, marking his season high for the year so far. To round out the individual first place winners, Waukee’s own Ethan Cohen bested the 100 yard breaststroke field with a time of 1:05.53
The Warriors will resume competitive swimming action on Thursday, December 13th with the rights the the number one raking on the line. Waukee will be welcoming West Des Moines for the contest held at the Waukee YMCA at 5 p.m.
