Softball America has named former Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) All-American Molly Jacobsen a Transfer of the Year. Jacobsen, a junior at the University of Mississippi, (UM) shares the honor with Samantha Show of Oklahoma State University (OSU) and Amanda Sanchez of Louisiana State University (LSU).
Jacobsen played for DMACC for two seasons, earning All-American honors both years and earning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Pitcher of the Year in 2018. She was 26-2 as a sophomore and led NJCAA Division II in strikeouts with 312. Jacobsen was second nationally in earned run average at 0.47 and third nationally in wins.
Jacobsen is 10-3 with a 1.79 earned run average and seven complete games at UM. She has pitched 101 and two-thirds innings, allowing 29 runs on 82 hits, including 26 earned runs. She has struck out a team-leading 107 batters and walked 22. Jacobsen, who has thrown four shutouts, has also saved three games this season. Her biggest wins have come against Florida, Minnesota, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and South Carolina.
UM is ranked 10th nationally by Softball America. The Rebels are 25-9 overall and 5-3 in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
