It was another strong outing for the Van Meter volleyball team Tuesday night as the Bulldogs took down conference foe Madrid at home in three sets.

En route to picking up their eighth win of the season, the Bulldogs posted up a season-high 18 aces. It was just as dominant of a defensive performance as Madrid couldn’t breach 15 points in any set as the Bulldogs won 25-12, 25-15, and 25-13.

Leading the way on the aces front was junior Norah Matt who collected one of her best serving nights with seven aces. Those came on a strong 16-of-17 from the serving line along with a team-best 21 digs.

As has been the case most of the season, junior Emma Braun stepped up big in the assists category acquiring 23 of the teams’ 29 total assists on the night. Braun also chipped in three kills, four digs, and four aces on the night. The Bulldogs had 32 total kills on the night and leading the way individually was junior Sidney Nelson with nine kills while senior Natalie Barth was right behind her with eight kills.

After a tough start to the season, Van Meter has now improved their record to an 8-6 mark. Next up for the Bulldogs will be an Oct. 1 match-up on the road in Pleasantville.
