At long last, the coveted Iowa high school football RPI Rankings have officially been released ahead of week seven match-ups.

For the currently undefeated Van Meter Bulldogs, they sit atop the heap of Class 1A with the number one RPI ranking. With a 6-0 record themselves, Van Meter’s opponents’ records have combined for 32-22 marking the eight-most opponent wins and tied for ninth-fewest combined opponent losses in Class 1A. Overall, Van Meter opponents have combined for a winning percentage of .5926 which tops the Class 1A field.

Of course, the third component to the newest RPI system has to do with the opponents of a team’s opponents. That too bests Class 1A with a mark of .5360 as the opponents of Van Meter opponents have combined for a record of 277-215.

The Bulldogs have once again found themselves at the top of the heap while doing so in a tough District-8 field. Including Van Meter, four District-8 teams currently reside in the top ten of the initial RPI polls within Class 1A. The other three include Panorama (6-0) at number two, Mount Ayr (5-1) at number eight, and ACGC (5-1) at ninth in the initial rankings.
