It’s about that time of year where various high school athletes decide where their athletic endeavors will take them following graduation.
For one multi-sport star within the confines of ADM High School, that next step has officially been decided. Made official Monday, Nov. 11, athletic phenom Josi Lonneman announced her commitment to play soccer for Grand View University’s women’s soccer team next spring. Lonneman undoubtedly could have had her pick of sports to choose from as she was a multi-year varsity starter in soccer, volleyball, and track. The senior has also earned multiple letters within each of those sports, earning All-Conference two years straight in both soccer and volleyball.
As for her time on the pitch, Lonneman could easily be categorized as a machine throughout her time so far in a Tiger uniform. Before Lonneman embarks upon her senior soccer season with ADM, she will enter already with 17 goals under her belt. Just like she has been for the sports of track and volleyball, Lonneman has been the heart and soul of the ADM squad for the last two seasons. She has made a lasting impact with just three seasons under her belt, seasons that head coach Kelsey Dolder highly of regarding Lonneman.
“Josi brings such passion to the game and she spreads that along to all of her teammates and everyone around her,” said Dolder. “She’s a great athlete but also a great person and she’s been so helpful to this program over the last few seasons.”
Lonneman will be joining a Grand View squad coming off of a solid 2019 campaign themselves where they made it all the way to the conference quarter-final round before having their season end at the hands of then 18th ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University. The Vikings were 5-9-3 overall on the season with a 2-4-3 mark at home with a 4-5-2 mark inside conference play. Lonneman will be joining the ranks along with other former ADM stars like Sydney Bertman who just came off of earning a second straight third-team All-Conference selection.
With volleyball done, the next athletic endeavor on Lonneman’s docket will be her senior soccer season in which she hopes to help ADM back to the state tournament for the third time in four seasons.
