It was a mixed bag of results for the ADM basketball teams Tuesday night as the Tigers welcomed in Pella Christian to town.

The ADM girls used a 24-12 second-half surge to taste victory 44-29 while a last-second shot downed the Tiger boys by a 55-53 margin.

The Tiger girls came into their contest already on a two-game winning streak and added one more to that in front of the hometown fans inside ADM High School. It had been eight years since the Tiger girls began a season with a 3-0 record, and Tuesday, they did it by outscoring Pella Christian in three out of the four quarters of play. Aside from a light 4-2 first quarter led by the Eagles, the Tigers dominated the conversation. In the highest-scoring quarter, the second quarter, the Tigers outscored their opponent 18-13 to head into the halftime break with a 20-17 advantage. They came out into the second half just as strong with a 14-10 run followed by holding the Lady Eagles to just two fourth-quarter points for the eventual 44-29 advantage.

On the boys side, it was an extremely competitive contest all the way down to the very end in their 2019 season opener. It was an inauspicious start for the Tigers who produced just six first-quarter points, the lowest first-quarter scoring efforts by an ADM team in seven years. The Tigers and the Eagles then battled it out in a close second quarter that led to a 24-16 halftime hole for ADM to crawl out of. They were well on their way to doing that with a monster third quarter where ADM outscored their opponents 24-12 to take their first big lead of the game heading into the final frame 40-36. Despite 13 points scored across the final quarter for the Tigers, they ended up dropping their season opener by the 55-53 final.

Leading the scoring efforts for ADM was Nate Mueller with 14 points followed by Jaxson Millsap with 11 points.

Both Tiger squads will now be looking for a win in their next outings which will come on Friday, Dec. 6 when they travel to Ballard to Raccoon River Conference season openers. The girls contest will start things off at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game at 7:30 p.m.
