The wait has finally come to a close for one Waukee football star. Ahead of all the snow and horrid weather, a ray of sunshine shown as Waukee football player Conner Arndt announced his decision to continue his academic and athletic career in college.
On Thursday, Jan. 16, Arndt announced through social media that he will take the collegiate gridiron with Iowa Western Community College. He will become one of the newest members of the Reivers football team come the 2020 football season.
Across his final season wearing a Waukee High School jersey, Arndt captured 27 total tackles with one eight a loss and three solo sacks on the season. Across his entire tenure, Arndt has produced 44 total tackles including ten for a loss but the numbers while solid, didn’t tell the whole story about the talented athlete.
“Conner is a nose to the grindstone type of player and you see that on the field every day,” said Warrior head coach Scott Carlson during the season. “His work is highlighted Fridays but he shows up every practice and every lifting session and gives it his all. Great player for the younger guys to look up to.”
Before he hits the collegiate football scene, Arndt will continue to tackle his senior wrestling season where he currently rests as Class 3A’s eighth-ranked 285-pound wrestler.
