Brody Boston shot an 85 at A-D-M’s district meet last week to qualify for the Class 3A state meet.
It was a bittersweet day for the Tigers at Bos Landen Golf Course in Pella on May 17. While Boston qualified, the A-D-M boys missed out on a team qualification by just three strokes. The team finished with a 353, while Ballard (350) and Grinnell (350) qualified.
"Bos Landen played very difficult on Friday, but the boys kept their heads up and worked through a difficult round of golf," said coach Cris Goodale. "Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out the way we would have liked. They all did the best they could, and I am proud of the team."
Joe Vest carded an 85, Ryan Krugler an 88, Taran Draisey a 96, Hunter Whyle a 97 and Ben Sandquist a 105. But it was Boston, a sophomore, who carded a 40 on the back nine to qualify for this week’s state meet in Ames.
"He has a lot to be proud of," Goodale said. "Brody may be a sophomore on paper, but he plays like a seasoned veteran. One of his best attributes is his mental maturity and he handles pressure well.
"He is a humble player and I have no doubt he will perform well at the state tournamen."
