The wait is over.

For Dallas County football teams, the season begins tomorrow, featuring a bevy of rival contests.

A-D-M will play host to Dallas Center-Grimes in Adel. The Mustangs will try to avenge a 38-20 shootout loss last season in Grimes.

Van Meter will travel to Earlham for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Bulldogs return several key parts from last year’s eight-win squad, and will be looking to beat the Cardinals for the second year in a row.

In Class 4A, Waukee will open at West Des Moines Valley. The Warriors return their top five rushers and four of their five offensive linemen from last season’s 8-3 team, but will be looking to strike a greater balance offensively with new quarterbacks Matt Hoeg and Ben Ferkin.

Woodward-Granger opens the season at Ogden. The Hawks have three consecutive undefeated regular seasons under their belts, but will have to replace many key parts from the team, including quarterback Taylor Ashman and running back Andrew McCune. Cole Ashman will take over for his older brother, while Marshall Nieland will get the nod at running back.
