The Woodward-Granger wrestlers finished second in the six-team West Central Conference Tournament Tuesday, with two Hawks winning conference crowns while four others finished as the runner-up in their weight class.
Ogden won the team title with 163.5 points, with W-G second at 115. Guthrie Center (107.5) was third, with Panorama (103), Van Meter (65) and WCV (36) in tow.
Colton Milosevich continued his dominating season by cruising to the conference title at 120 pounds. The senior standout pinned Garrett DeYoung (PAN) in 1 minute, 39 seconds, pinned Luke Costlow (VM) in 42 ticks and then pinned Shawn Heaning (OGD) in 1:57 to place first.
Race Brant need less than two combined minutes to pine his way to the crown at 145. He nailed Tevan Fuller (PAN) in 13 seconds, Colby Grove (GC) in 25 seconds and Logan Sturtz (OGD) in 1:19 to win gold.
Kaleb Noel (113), Tanner Vermaas (152), Dylan Nixon (195) and Ryan Hodges (285) all finished second for W-G, with Josh Keubler (126) and Collen Gibbons (160) both finishing third.
Jimmy Harney (132), Thomas Govig (170) and Josh Groves (220) each ended the meet in fourth place, with Aaron Sperling (138) placing fifth. W-G did not compete at either 106 or 182.
Three Van Meter wrestlers captured three individual titles: 106-pound Bailey Tuma, 138-pound Chase Wyant and 220-pound Spencer Benton.
Tuma collected two victories, a pin of Panorama’s Garrett Simmons and a 5-3 decision of Ogden’s Austin Flynn. Wyant picked up two falls while improving to 33-8 on the season, and Benton (37-3) collected three wins: a 13-second pin of W-G’s Josh Groves, a 2:29 pin of Panorama’s Marcus Boldy and a 4-1 decision of Guthrie Center’s Cale Crowder.
Luke Costlow (120) placed third, while Bray Watson (126) and Grant Waller (182) each finished fourth.
