Waukee junior Kayla Kuethe qualified for her third state tournament with a regional championship on May 16.
Kuethe, who posted a school-record 16-3 record in the No. 1 singles position for the Warriors, advanced with a regional championship.
Waukee beat Council Bluffs Jefferson 5-0 in the regional semifinal, but fell to Johnston 5-2 in the finale, coming up one spot short of a state team berth.
Bri Young finished the year with a 7-3 record. Sara Wadle won eight matches, Olivia Lacona finished with a 6-5 mark, Taylor Brown finished her senior season 8-3 and Jeane Robles held a 7-3 mark.
Kuethe will compete at state May 30-31 in Cedar Rapids.
The Waukee boys also fell short in their substate match, falling to West Des Moines Valley 5-4 in a semifinal round on May 18. The Warriors will still be represented at the state meet this Friday and Saturday in Cedar Rapids, however. Drew Hays will compete in the singles competition, and Jake Kuyper and Mike Sylvester will team up in the doubles tournament.
