Van Meter improved to 4-0 with a 35-28 homecoming win over Ogden on Sept. 20 in a game that featured 841 total yards of offense.

Cody Blackwell and Brandon Brittain combined for 309 yards on the ground. Blackwell carried 18 times for 179 yards and broke loose for a 37-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Brittain, who also threw for 131 yards, rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns.

Logan Crawford’s two second-half touchdown runs put Van Meter’s lead out of reach. Ogden’s Kolton Christle scored with 3:19 to pull the team within one touchdown.

Crawford caught five passes for 65 yards and led the defense with 14 tackles. Grant Waller added seven tackles, and Blackwell, Ben Trent, Grant Hoppes and Ben Flaherty all had six.

Van Meter travels Friday to Leon to face Central Decatur. The Cardinals are 3-1 overall and 1-1 in Class 1A District 7 play, the winners of a 27-14 contest against Clarke last week.
