Third-ranked Waukee suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of No. 6 Dowling Catholic on Tuesday, falling 8-1 and 2-1.

The Warriors were held to just two hits in game one. Kylie Mickelson gave up seven runs on nine hits.

Waukee managed four hits in game two, including two by Callie Feaker. Kaitlyn Menz scattered seven hits and walked five in seven innings.


The Waukee softball team took two of three games at a tournament in Des Moines on June 1.

The Warriors beat A-D-M 14-0 and Des Moines East 10-0, but fell to Johnston 8-3.

Feaker, Mickelson and Claire Dudek each had three hits against A-D-M, while Abby Krantz and Nicole Tennant drove in three runs apiece. Menz pitched four innings, striking out four and allowing two hits for the victory.

Schylir Rowen homered and drove in four to lead the Warriors against East. Feaker and Dudek each had three hits and Miranda Tiefenthaler scored twice while Mickelson struck out eight in the six-inning victory.

Johnston scored four runs in the third and four in the fourth to hand Waukee its first loss of the season. Kelli Fogt and Shaye Witte had two hits for the Warriors.


Feaker drove home Witte in the eighth inning to give Waukee a 1-0 victory over Pleasant Valley on May 31.

Waukee was held to just three hits, while Menz picked up the win in relief, pitching four innings and allowing just one hit.


Waukee swept Des Moines Lincoln 2-1 and 12-4 on May 30.

Mickelson fanned six in 6 1/3 innings while Krantz and Tennant accounted for the team’s runs.

The Warriors blew open game two with a five-run fourth inning. Krantz, Feaker and Taylor Luther all had three-hit games while Tennant and Dudek scored twice and Rowen drew three walks.
