The ice storm that began on Dec. 5 wreaked havoc on Grayson County in general and Van Alstyne in particular. Though damage estimates won’t be had for some time, thousands of dollars in property damage occurred to both buildings and motor vehicles. The city’s storage barn suffered a caved-in roof as did this resident’s car porch. Icicles having from the eves of buildings downtown mid-week six says after the storm began show the effects of a week of sub-freezing temperatures.
