Dallas Co. Business Spotlight: The Spirit Stable
GRIMES – In the year 2000, Eric Boel became the youngest person ever to open a Medicap Pharmacy after he built the establishment in Grimes, Iowa. Now, approximately 15 years later, Boel has recently embarked on his latest business adventure, becoming the owner and operator of The Spirit Stable, which is also located in Grimes.
“I bought The Spirit Stable two weeks before this past Christmas because I thought it would be a great opportunity,” Boel stated.
Since his purchase, Boel has not just created merchandise for local schools but has also donated to a variety of programs located at these schools, including the Dallas Center - Grimes School district. These items range from a $500 scholarship for juniors and seniors to donations for after prom and even donations to help the local Coaches versus Cancer event. Yet, despite all he has contributed in such a short amount of time, Boel hopes to be able to give back more to the community in the long run.
“I think that people not only want to come to The Spirit Stable but they also want to see The Spirit Stable active in the community,” Boel stated.
As for the future of the company, Boel plans to expand his business into the Johnston and Waukee school districts. He has also begun expanding his inventory. The 3-D Sublimation capability is just one example of this product expansion.
“We are currently working with a 3-D Sublimation Machine in order to create local school and business logos on coffee mugs, mouse pads, Iphone cases, and more,” Boel stated.
Originally from Dickson, Illinois, Boel graduated from Drake University with a degree in Pharmacy. When he’s not looking for his latest business adventure, Boel loves spending time with his family. He currently has children who are involved with local athletics. This includes his daughter who plays basketball and cheers at the Iowa All Stars and his sons who play hockey, football, basketball and baseball.
“Buisness and family are the two things that keep me going,” Boel stated.
