Van Alstyne police made an arrest on Wednesday to wrap up a four-month investigation worked in conjunction with the Grayson County Children’s Advocacy Center.

At approximately 11:34 a.m. on Wednesday, VAPD officers executed an arrest warrant on Jerry Hinson, , of Van Alstyne. Hinson was booked into the Grayson County Jail on a charge of indecency with a child – exposure, a felony 3 offense.

Officials say that Hinson exposed his genitalia to an 11-year-old Van Alstyne girl. The investigation began in August when the mother of the 11-year-old found what she considered to be inappropriate messages to her daughter from Hinson on social media. She took her findings to the Van Alstyne Police Department, and from there officers got in touch with Grayson County Children’s Advocacy Center to arrange a forensic interview with the child.

The findings from that interview were presented to VAPD, and an arrest warrant was obtained through the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office.

Hinson’s bond was set at $15,000.

VAPD Notes:

It was an unusually quiet holiday break for the department. There were no DWI arrests and only 19 incidents reported over a two-week reporting period.

On Dec. 31, in the 400 block of Rigsby, police responded to a property damage complaint. Arrested for criminal mischief from $100-750 was Juan Carreon, 44, of Garland. The charge is a misdemeanor B offense.
