School canceled in Adel due to threatening letter
Days after school was canceled in three Iowa School Districts due to threatening messages, A-D-M has now canceled school for its students in Adel on Friday morning after a threatening note was found on campus at the Middle School and High School facility.
According to an email sent to parents by A-D-M Superintendent, Greg Dufoe, the cancelation will allow for the Adel Police Department to conduct an investigation.
"We do not feel there is a real threat, but want to be cautious," Dufoe said in the email.
Just after 8 a.m., middle school students were evacuated from the building to the baseball diamonds and the high school students were evacuated to the football practice fields. The email said that they would keep track of students picked up by parents and that buses were routed back to buildings to take students home as well.
School remained in session for students at DeSoto Intermediate and Adel Elementary.
