Angela Schrad and her husband Dave have recently added two event planners to their Adel business, Harmony Hall on Riverside. Brittany Abbott and Marie Gipson will be managing all their weddings, workshops and other events, including a farmers market called Fresh Finds Adel.

“They have a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for what they do and they have already made great strides in creating a family friendly weekly event for Adel,” Schrad said.

Fresh Finds Adel will be held weekly on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m., beginning July 7 and ending Sept. 15. They are hoping the communities embrace the farmers market and support the vendors, so they can make it a yearly seasonal event.

Harmony Hall on Riverside will be hosting this event at 1015 Riverside Dr. in Adel. There is a parking lot area to the East of the Harmony Hall building, including a secondary parking lot. There is also parking throughout the Kinnick-Feller Riverside Park.

“We are a part of a group called, This is Adel, who’s primary focus is bringing tourism to Adel,” Schrad said. “We’ve talked about it for several years and the timing seemed to be right.”

Schrad shared that the farmers market is something they could host outdoors, while still honoring social distancing guidelines and supporting local growers, farmers and artisans.

“We will create ample spacing between each vendor to allow for social distancing,” Schrad said. “We ask that market-goers use their best judgement in attending, consider the standard questions outlined and wear masks if they feel it necessary.”

Fresh Finds Adel will have a large community of urban farmers, organic farms, family farm businesses, bakers, crafters, artists and musicians in and around Dallas County. Schrad hopes to give them an opportunity to meet the community and showcase their talents and bounties.

“We have just begun accepting applications this week, but we do have a wide variety committed to joining us this season,” Schrad said.

The following vendors and people have already committed to the Fresh Finds Adel Farmer’s Market: Wilder Flowers, Heartland Handcrafted, Kountry Farmhouse, Helps Homestead, Fostering The Essentials, Snappy’s BBQ, Teal Tattie Macrame, Musician-Alli Adamowski and more.

Interested vendors have been asked to fill out a form at or: Email:

Vendors will rent either a 10x10 inside or outside space.

“As with all of our events, we will have food available as well as a full bar with beer, wine, a signature drink, water and pop,” Schrad said. “Snappy’s BBQ has committed and our hope is to have a few other food options available throughout the season.”

Schrad and Dave are parents, business owners and consumers. They know this year hasn’t been an easy one for many.

“Our hope is that we can bring something to Dallas County that sparks joy, builds community and supports fellow small business owners,” Schrad said. “There is so much pride that our businesses and citizens take in everything we do. It would be a shame not to share it with others.”

Before launching Fresh Finds Adel, they had a Field to Fork dinner planned, on Sept. 19. They thought it would be the perfect finale to encourage vendors to participate in creating this event. The meal will be prepared using food and produce from the farmer vendors. The artisan vendors will be showcased in the event’s design.

“We know that this is something the community has wanted to bring back for many years,” Schrad said. “It’s a perfect family outing and what could be more perfect than a picnic in the park with homemade food and produce!”
