Evelyn Hougham recently retired from BASE after 19 years.

ADEL – Following a career just shy of 20 years with BASE®, Evelyn Hougham announced her retirement.

Evelyn Hougham served as an Administration Specialist for BASE® since September 2001 and was the warm and welcoming voice on the phone or the smiling greeter at the door of BASE®.

No matter the tenure of the BASE® employees, everyone knew what a kind-hearted woman Evelyn to be. She always had your best interests at heart and a full bowl of candy at her desk!

Due to COVID, she was bid farewell with a non-traditional goodbye. BASE® employees wanted to be sure she knew how much she was appreciated and organized a surprise retirement drive-by party. Current BASE® employees and close friends paraded by the office doors, complete with signs, balloons, honking and many well wishes for a happy retirement.

“It’s a great day at BASE®…” is how she warmly greeted everyone on the phone, her smiling face at the front desk each morning, and at the end of the day as BASE® employees walked out the door each night.  As she picked up her things and enjoyed her farewell, the warmth and generosity she shared was on full display one last time.  Because in true Evelyn fashion, despite the surprise farewell, was prepared with treats as a parting gift for everyone that drove by as a “thank you.”

Evelyn commented on her retirement by saying, “Words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation to everyone at BASE® for all the kindness and support extended to me throughout the last 19 years. After many years in the business world, I intend to really enjoy my retirement. Just a new chapter of my life.”

The BASE® staff would all agree that there aren’t enough words to thank Evelyn enough for her dedicated service to BASE® and all she has done for the company and the employees she has worked with over the years. She will truly be missed, but never forgotten and hard to replace.
