Letter to the Editor: Why Adel?

To The Editor:

Recently I experienced kindness from two people who were complete strangers to me.

First was at the Public Library. I was trying to find a book and not having success when a very kind lady stopped what she was doing and found it for me, with the help of the computer in that area. Her little girl, Sophia, was asleep in her stroller nearby.

The next was near an office in western Adel (this was not a good experience, at least not at first). I had parked my car and was waiting outside anxious to read the book I'd gotten earlier. I put the window down and was enjoying my read. Time passed nearly an hour. Reading can do that to a person.

Time to leave - click! Car wouldn't start. Fob was engaged in ignition nearly an our - zapped the battery. The husband of one of the ladies from the office came from several blocks away with his battery pack and car started.

Now, one more stop and kindness again at the grocery store. I was starting to lift a very heavy 24 bottle package of water when my library friend offered her help. I accepted. Never met her before the library experience.

I hope I have the opportunity to pay it forward, if not today, soon. I'm glad to live in Iowa and in particular, the Adel area. Wherever you live, look for the good in people.
