Tigers fourth, Mustangs sixth at conference meet
A-D-M’s Brody Boston and Dallas Center-Grimes’ Justin Carlyle earned all-conference honors after top-10 finishes at the Raccoon River Conference meet at Perry Golf and Country Club on Monday.
Both Boston and Carlyle carded 79s, four strokes off the pace of medalist Rob Clifton on Winterset. A-D-M finished fourth, with a score of 330, and DC-G was sixth, with a score of 346. Ballard (313), Winterset (317) and Boone (324) made up the top three.
The Tigers also got an 82 from Ben Sandquist, an 84 from Ryan Krugler, 85s by Joe Vest and Taran Draisey and a 99 from Hunter Whyle.
The Mustangs got an 86 from Alex Jaspering, an 88 by Travis Ondler, a 93 by Blake Borchers, and 95s from David Ingle and Sam Nissly.
A-D-M was to travel Wednesday to Norwalk for a sectional meet with Bondurant-Farrar, Carlisle, Knoxville, Pella and Saydel. DC-G will golf Friday at Boone against Gilbert, Iowa Falls-Alden, Nevada, Perry and Webster City.
“At the beginning of the year, I tell the players I’m not worried about the individual meets, I want to be the best we can be at the end of the season for tournaments,” said A-D-M coach Cris Goodale. “We can still make some improvements, but we are headed in the right direction.
“If everyone can put their best effort together the rest of the season, teams will have to play well to beat us. That is what we want, always.”
