The sixth grade Van Alstyne 7-on-7 Panther football team had a bit of extra pressure on them May 10th as they played in Celina as a smattering of current and former student athletes came to watch. Not wanting to disappoint their new fans, the boys proceeded to beat the Pottsboro team 35-24 and Pilot Point, 39-13 to bring their record to 8-0.

Newly-elected city councilman Russell Moore said, “Friday I got to witness a really cool thing as some former and current VA football players came to watch the sixth grade 7-on-7 football team play their doubleheaders. The older boys are looked up to by the younger children and it is so encouraging to see as a parent. We are thankful that VA has great young men and women who step up to the challenge of being those good role models. On behalf of the team, thank you to all those young men who were there. It means more to the team than you know.”
