Tigers comeback bid fall short against Bondurant-Farrar
It was a tale of two halves as the A-D-M basketball team played Bondurant-Farrar in Adel on Feb. 14. The Tigers made a strong push for a comeback in the second half but fell short as they lost to the Bluejays 59-54 and fell to 6-14 on the season.
It looked as though the Bluejays would win the game easily as they dominated the Tigers in the first quarter, outscoring them 20-4. The Tigers looked better in the second quarter, but were still outscored 19-15 and went into halftime trailing 39-19.
The Tigers began to reverse their fortune in the third quarter outscoring the Bluejays 16-8 and pulling the score to 47-35 in favor of the Bluejays. They continued to climb back in the fourth quarter and pulled within five of the Bluejays but couldn’t hit the shots in the last couple of minutes as the Bluejays held on to win.
Senior Logan Essy led the Tigers in scoring with 17 points on 5-of-12 shooting while also grabbing seven rebounds. Robbie Sloss hit one 3-pointer and was the only other tiger with double digits in the points column with 10.
Jacob Hardy went 3-for-3 from the field and had six points while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.
The Tigers will finish the regular season on Thursday against Norwalk at 7:45 p.m. in Adel. This will be the first meeting between the Tigers and the Warriors.
The Tigers begin post-season action on Thursday in the district tournament on the road against Harlan. The Tigers lost to Harlan back on Jan. 11 by a score of 73-44.
Tipoff is at 8 p.m. in Harlan.
