DC-G girls blow out Newton
The Fillies only had one player in double digits in the scoring column, but still won by 26 points against Newton on Friday, Jan. 30 at Newton High School. The Fillies won the game 62-36.
Rachel Lowary, a sophomore, led the way for the Fillies with 15 points, going 6-of-9 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from 3-point range. While Lowary was the only player with a double-digit scoring total, the Fillies did have two players, Jenna Borchers and Brooke Kramer, with nine points and two players, Allison O’Brien and Maci Masching, with eight points.
Borchers, a freshman, and Masching, a junior, each tied for a team-high six rebounds. O’Brien, Lowary and Lexi Rosa each had three assists.
The Fillies didn’t give Newton any room to breathe defensively as they didn’t allow more than 10 points in any quarter and compiled 20 steals as a team. O’Brien led the way with seven steals while Lowary had five.
